A 32-year-old woman suffering from bipolar disorder comes to suspect the proprietor of the state-of-the-art ''smart apartment'' she and her husband just moved into is using the building's residents as unwitting guinea pigs for a ''synthetic telepathy'' brainwashing plot with dire global ramifications. A couple moves to an isolated, modern, safe apartment building with CCTV after the wife has problems with nightmares. However, something's not quite right with the building. Christina Ricci grows a set of bangs to cover up her high forehead and gets a role where she keeps her top on. She takes grief medication which causes her to be sensitive to subliminal messages of unknown origin….or is it the medication? Her only help is an on-line stranger, John Cusack in a hoodie, who happens to be at the same coffee shop as her because the world is that small. Both she and the audience try to figure out what is going on and she doesn't know who to trust. We solve the mystery together.

There are better films on the topic, although nothing that has been out recently. I liked the subject matter and Cusack in this role. I believe subliminal messaging is over stated as it was been demonstrated that a regular commercial will sell more product than a subliminal statement.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity. Really sad to see Christina Ricci and John Cusack in such a terrible movie. Acting is too awkward. CGI (if it can be called that) is the lousiest I have ever seen. Editing was terrible. Continuity was pauper. Not really sure how this even got to be 6.8. I'm giving it 2/10 because I like Christina an John. The rest is a NO-NO
